Approximately 22 years ago, Ohio Laser & Wellness Center opened the doors to its Dover, Ohio, location. Offering a full spectrum of medical and cosmetic procedures, the practice, led by Dr. Chinyere Orafu, is driven to help people feel comfortable in their own skin. 

Upon opening, the company welcomed a heavy stream of patients, and business has remained consistent ever since. Over the years, as social media and cellphone cameras placed a greater emphasis on appearance, the business continued to blossom. This influx of new patients led to the hiring of more staff members and, subsequently, an increase in each individual’s responsibilities. 

As a result, keeping track of who was coming and going and the hours they logged became more and more of a challenge. 

“For our first three years, we tracked everyone’s hours on paper,” said Orafu, who is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. “Employees would write down the times they clocked in and out, and our office manager would calculate payroll. This proved difficult as we’d often have to chase down timecards and validate hours through the honor system.” 

Interested in optimizing the business's operational practices, Orafu and her staff began researching a simpler, easier way to track time. 

“We were spending a lot of time chasing hours and calculating payroll, so we began to look for a way to simplify the process,” said Orafu. “In 2005, we found OnTheClock, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.” 

Simple, Easy, and Always Accessible

Nearly 19 years after adopting OnTheClock, Ohio Laser & Wellness Center continues to utilize the software on a daily basis. 

“We opened a second location in Canton, Ohio, and we have several employees who are always on the go, moving from office to office,” said Orafu. “We also have two employees who work outside the country. No matter where our workers are at, they can clock in on their phones, which is great.” 

OnTheClock has also streamlined how and when Ohio Laser & Wellness employees receive overtime, as the pay rate is automatically adjusted. Additionally, managers receive alerts if and when an employee is approaching the overtime threshold.

Additionally, Ohio Laser & Wellness relies on OnTheClock to facilitate any paid time off (PTO) requests, making it easy for employees and managers to track scheduled absences and see how much time each individual has left in his or her PTO bank. 

“OnTheClock makes it easy for us to see who’s currently in and who’s out,” said Orafu. “I always check this feature before contacting an employee, as I don’t want to bother someone who’s not working. Additionally, using the PTO page, I can see when employees are going to be on vacation, how much time off employees still have left, etc. This is all available on one page, allowing us to quickly and easily compare schedules to ensure we have coverage at all times.”

Tenured Time Tracking

Through 19 years, Orafu has only had to contact OnTheClock’s customer support department one time – an interaction she deems “positive.”

“About 10 years ago, we had an issue with one of our employees being unable to punch out, so we reached out to support,” said Orafu. “It turned out to be a computer glitch that was remedied quickly. The support rep was great, and he took care of the problem promptly.” 

After almost 19 years together, Orafu said she has no plans to sever the company’s relationship with OnTheClock. Because if it’s not broken, why fix it?

“OnTheClock is worth every dime,” Orafu said. “It’s saved us a ton of time and effort with our timecards and payroll. We love how accurate and reliable it is. It does exactly what we need it to do. I highly recommend it. Keep up the good work!”
