GPS: Setup and Troubleshooting
Using GPS for your business

OnTheClock has the capability of tracking GPS coordinates for mobile staff. GPS can be used to track crews on job sites, lock employees down to specific areas for clock in, and accountability of where employees are during the day.

GPS functionality can be turned on from an employees profile by administrators and managers on both the mobile app and the browser.
Mobile Rules and GPS
Toggle this setting on to allow an employee to clock in via mobile device. From there, you can set a Mobile Rule:
- Do Not Record GPS Coordinates: No location information will be recorded.
- Record GPS Coordinates: A location will be recorded upon clocking in or out.
- Record GPS Coordinates and Require GPS to Punch: A location will be recorded and the employee must share their location in order to clock in or out.
- Record GPS Coordinates, Warn if Not at GPS Punch Location(s): The employee will be warned if they try to clock in outside of a designated location.
- Record GPS Coordinates, Disable Punch if Not at GPS Location(s): The employee will not be able to clock in unless they are at a designated location.
On a Browser
Step 1: login as the admin or manager on the account.
Step 2: Go to the employee icon and select "View full employee list."
Step 3: Select an employee from the list.
Step 4: Navigate to "Location & Security."
Step 5: under the bold heading " Mobile Rules & GPS."
Step 6: Toggle enable mobile punch to "On."
Step 7: Select a mobile rule.
Step 8: Click "Save."

Step 1: login as the admin or manager on the account.
Step 2: Tap your initials.
Step 3: Tap settings.
Step 4: Tap employees.
Step 5: Choose an employee and scroll to " Mobile Rules & GPS."
Step 6: Toggle enable mobile punch to "On."
Step 7: Select a mobile rule.
Step 8: Tap "Save."

Once the GPS functionality is enabled, you will be able to review GPS pins on the account dashboard on the map. You should see pins that you can hover over that show the employee name and times for clock in. Depending on your rule you may see a proximity outline defining a set location employees can punch at. Currently GPS coordinates are not displayed with the marker, it will be named what you labelled it in set up.
On a Browser
Step 1: login as the admin or manager on the account.
Step 2: Go to the employee icon and select "View full employee list."
Step 3: Select an employee from the list.
Step 4: Navigate to "Location & Security."
Step 5: under the bold heading " Mobile Rules & GPS."
Step 6: Toggle enable mobile punch to "On."
Step 7: Select a mobile rule.
Step 8: Click "Save."

Note: A breadcrumb will only appear if an employee moved 200 meters.

NULLGPS pins are not on the map

If you are viewing your Punch map and not seeing GPS pin markers or GPS breadcrumb trails here are a few things to test.
No pins are showin on my map:
- Go to the employee icon>Select an employee
- Click the "location & security" heading
- Under bold heading "mobile rules & GPS" verify the mobile rule selected is "record & require GPS to punch"
- Switch the rule if it is not and click save
If this rule is on and you are not seeing a pin:
- Verify your from thru dates are correct
- Verify that you have select the correct employee
- Toggle between "map" and "Satellite" options on the punch map
Device troubleshoot:
Sometimes phone apps can store location history have the employee clear their location history and clear the apps cache.
