Updated iOS and Android Requirements for the OnTheClock App
Starting October 1st, 2026, new installs of the OnTheClock app require iOS 16.1 or later, or Android 10 or later. If you already have the app on an older version, it will keep working, but you won't receive new features.
What's changing
To keep improving the OnTheClock app, we're updating the minimum phone operating system versions it supports. Starting October 1, 2026, you'll need one of the following to download and install the app:
- iPhone: iOS 16.1 or later
- Android: Android 10 or later
Supported devices
iPhone
iOS 16.1 runs on iPhone 8 and newer, including:
- iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X, XS, XS Max, and XR
- iPhone SE (2nd generation) and newer
- iPhone 11 and all later models
Older models, including the iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, and the original iPhone SE, can't be updated to iOS 16 and aren't supported.
If you have a supported iPhone but it's on iOS 16.0 or earlier, update your iPhone to the latest iOS version to install the app.
iPad
iPadOS 16.1 runs on:
- iPad (5th generation) and newer
- iPad Air (3rd generation) and newer
- iPad mini (5th generation) and newer
- All iPad Pro models
Older models, including the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4, can't be updated to iPadOS 16 and aren't supported.
Android
Android phones vary by manufacturer, so the easiest way to check is your Android version (see below). As a general guide, most phones released in 2019 or later run Android 10 or newer, including:
- Google Pixel 2 and newer
- Samsung Galaxy S9, Note 9, and newer
If your phone runs Android 9 or earlier and can't be updated, the latest app isn't supported.
I'm on an older version. Will my app stop working?
No. If the OnTheClock app is already installed on your phone, it will keep working as it does today. You can keep clocking in and out and using the app as usual.
However, older versions of the app won't receive new features or updates. To get the latest features, you'll need to update your phone to a supported operating system version.
Important: Don't uninstall the app
If your phone is on an older operating system and you uninstall the OnTheClock app, you won't be able to reinstall it. The app store will only allow downloads on supported versions.
If you run into an issue with the app, contact our support team before deleting it: support@ontheclock.com

What if my phone can't be updated?
Some older phones can't be updated to a supported version. If that's the case for you:
- You can keep using the app you already have installed, as long as you don't uninstall it.
- You can also use OnTheClock in a web browser.
- Additional clock in methods can be used like Kiosk. mode.
