2026 Minimum Wage Rates By State

As of Jan. 1, 2026, the federal minimum wage remains $7.25 per hour, a rate that has been in effect since July 24, 2009. In situations where federal and state minimum wage rates differ, the higher rate prevails.

In 2026, many states increased their minimum wage rates due to inflation adjustments or scheduled legislative hikes. Below is a list of each state's current minimum wage rates for 2026, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Arizona $15.15 The minimum wage in Arizona increased to $15.15 on Jan. 1, 2026, based on inflation adjustments.
Arkansas $11.00 Applies to employers with 4 or more employees.
California $16.90 California’s minimum wage increased to $16.90 on Jan. 1, 2026. Fast-food workers ($20.00) and healthcare workers ($18-25 depending on facility size) have separate, higher minimum wage standards.
Colorado $15.16 The minimum wage in Colorado increased to $15.16 on Jan. 1, 2026. Denver and Edgewater have higher local minimum wages.
Connecticut $16.94 The minimum wage in Connecticut increased to $16.94 on Jan. 1, 2026.
Delaware $15.00 The minimum wage in Delaware reached $15.00 in 2025 and remains at this rate for Jan. 1, 2026.
District of Columbia $17.95 The rate is $17.95 as of Jan. 1, 2026. The next scheduled adjustment is July 1, 2026.
Florida $14.00 The rate is $14.00 as of Jan. 1, 2026. It is scheduled to increase to $15.00 on September 30, 2026.
Georgia $7.25 The state minimum is $5.15. Employers subject to the FLSA must pay the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

Hawaii $16.00 The minimum wage in Hawaii increased to $16.00 on Jan. 1, 2026.
Idaho $7.25 Tied to the federal minimum wage.
Illinois $15.00 The minimum wage in Illinois remains $15.00 for 2026.

Iowa $7.25 Tied to the federal minimum wage.
Kansas $7.25 Tied to the federal minimum wage.

Michigan $13.73 The minimum wage in Michigan increased to $13.73 on Jan. 1, 2026.
Minnesota $11.41 / $9.28

The minimum wage for large employers increased to $11.41 on Jan. 1, 2026. Small employers (revenue less than $500k) must pay $9.28.

Minneapolis and St. Paul have higher local rates (Minneapolis is $16.37 as of Jan. 1, 2026).

Missouri $15.00 The minimum wage in Missouri increased to $15.00 on Jan. 1, 2026.
Montana $10.85 The minimum wage in Montana increased to $10.85 on Jan. 1, 2026.
Nebraska $15.00 The minimum wage in Nebraska increased to $15.00 on Jan. 1, 2026.
Nevada $12.00 The minimum wage is $12.00. The two-tier system was eliminated in 2024.
New Hampshire $7.25 Tied to the federal minimum wage.
New Jersey $15.92 / $15.23 On Jan. 1, 2026, the rate increased to $15.92 for large employers and $15.23 for small/seasonal employers.

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, the minimum wage is $17.00 for NYC, Long Island, and Westchester County.

For the remainder of New York State (Upstate), the rate is $16.00.

Ohio $11.00 The minimum wage in Ohio increased to $11.00 on Jan. 1, 2026 for non-tipped employees.

Oregon $15.05+ The standard rate is $15.05. Rates adjust annually on July 1. (Portland Metro is $16.30; Non-Urban is $14.05).

Wyoming $7.25 Because the Wyoming minimum wage ($5.15 per hour) is less than the national minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, workers are entitled to the higher minimum wage of $7.25.
